This qualification reflects the role of a security officer, responsible for maintaining safety and security by patrolling, protecting or guarding property while unarmed, and screening entry, monitoring behaviour and removing persons from premises.
This qualification is intended to align with the occupational licensing outcomes of a security agent with crowd control or general guarding security officer. Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements.
Security officers may work alone or in a team environment under general supervision, operating with limited autonomy and judgment to complete routine but variable tasks, with some accountability and responsibility for their own outputs, work, and learning.

As some of the training is conducted via Zoom and online, the student is required to be able to have basic computer skills in order to access the training. A dedicated computer room is available for students at our campus in Bentleigh should the student need access to a computer.
Probity requirements apply to security licensing, with the list of offences which prohibit a person from being granted a South Australian Security Agent License being listed at this link.
Students who wish to become a licensed security agent need to be able to undertake a national police check and fingerprinting prior to being issued with a license in South Australia.
These require students to not have any convictions in the last ten years or be found guilty without conviction of any Category A or B offences within the last five years.

People who have lived overseas in the last two years must provide a police certificate from the country where you lived, and a copy of your passport. If you can’t produce the overseas certificate, complete a statutory declaration and include a copy of your visa grant notice.
